Student performances, Summer & Winter

Take the
stage

Twice a year, Rock Now students step out of the rehearsal room and onto a real stage. Our Summer and Winter concerts are the moment everything comes together - songs learned, bands formed, family and friends in the room.

It's not a formal recital. It's a gig - loud, joyful, and built around showing off what every player has learned.

Why we put on concerts

A goal worth practising for

Learning a song in a Saturday session is great. Playing that same song in front of an audience - with a band behind you - is what turns a learner into a performer.

Concerts give every player something to aim at. They build confidence, stagecraft, and real band experience that can't be taught from a book - and every player gets their moment.

Confidence

Find your nerve - then keep it

Steeling yourself before the first chord, then hearing the room clap, is a confidence shift that lasts way beyond music.

Stagecraft

Learn to hold a room

Where to stand, how to count in, what to do between songs. Stagecraft grows with every performance.

Band experience

Play as one unit

Listening, watching cues, locking in. Concerts are where the band becomes a band.

A goal

Something to aim at

Every player works towards the same night. A clear goal makes the weekly sessions mean more.

From the practice room to the gig

How a student gets to the stage

No previous gig experience needed. Every concert player follows the same simple path, one Saturday at a time.

  1. Learn a song

Pick a song you actually want to play, then learn it on your instrument with your tutor - one riff, one beat, one line at a time.

  2. Rehearse together

Bring your part into the room. Plug in with the rest of the band, run it, and tighten it up until it sounds like a real song.

  3. Take the stage

Show up on concert night, soundcheck, and play it out loud for family and friends. That's the goal - and you've earned it.

For parents & players

Every ability level
can take part

You do not need to be an advanced player to perform. Concerts are arranged so that complete beginners through to more experienced students each get a part they can be proud of. Parts are matched to where each player is - so the night is exciting, not overwhelming.

Whether it's your first concert or your fifth, the goal is the same: get up there, play your song, and enjoy it.

Concerts start
in sessions

Every concert player begins in our Saturday sessions. See how small-group lessons, included equipment, and a 15-minute weekly band set build the skills for the stage.
